Hi all,

This code is for counting the Page hits in PHP. This is the most simplest code I could come up with.

This works perfectly well.

<?php
$file
= fopen("counter.txt","r+");
$count = fread($file, filesize("counter.txt"));
fclose($file);
$count +=1;
$file = fopen("counter.txt","w+");
fputs($file, $count);
fclose($file);
echo
"You are visitor : $count";
?>

Please try the code and let me know if you are having any problems. I'll be glad to help you.

Thank you,
Sri.

Hi Sri.

I did some changes in your code to make it a little more efficient. Instead of opening the file twice, I have done it only once. In addition to that, this new version does not generate an error message the first time it is used. The previous code did, due to the fact that the "counter.txt" file did not exist and was not then available for reading.

Here is the code v2 :

<?php
    $file = fopen("counter.txt",(is_file("counter.txt"))?"r+":"w+");
    $count = fread($file, filesize("counter.txt"));
    rewind($file);
    $count +=1;
    fputs($file, $count);
    fclose($file);
    echo "You are visitor : $count";
?>
