Passing an array is indeed one option, mainly if you mean a variable number
of arguments as in something between 0 and infinity. If what you have in
mind is a simpler function, that sometimes takes some arguments and
sometimes takes some more, you can use the default mechanism, e.g.

function func($a, $b=7)
{
...
}

This function accepts one or two arguments. If the secnond argument isn't
specified, $b is assigned 7.
