Counter
Counters play an important role in web development , it lets you know how many hits
is your site getting. You must hvae seen fancy colorful counters on many sites, I
will also discuss about them but first lets start with simple counters. Before we
move ahead lets go through file locking once more. If you are using PHP version
<4.0.1 , you cant use LOCK_EX and LOCK_UN in file locking , instead of it you have
use 2 and 3. Keep in find following list.
-To acquire a shared lock (reader), set operation to LOCK_SH (set to 1 prior to PHP
4.0.1).
- To acquire an exclusive lock (writer), set operation to LOCK_EX (set to 2 prior to
PHP 4.0.1).
- To release a lock (shared or exclusive), set operation to LOCK_UN (set to 3 prior
to PHP 4.0.1).
- If you don't want flock() to block while locking, add LOCK_NB (set 4 prior to PHP
4.0.1) to operation.
