Sure, easy. This little example will give you the date 40 days from now:

list($hour, $min, $sec, $day, $mon, $yr) = explode(" ",date("H i s d m y"));
echo date("M d/y",mktime($hour, $min, $sec, $mon, $day + 40, $yr));
?>
The nice thing about doing it this way is that it should correctly handle
weird things like daylight savings time changes, leap years, leap seconds,
etc.
